Goverre

wine sippy cupRegan Kelaher and Shannon Zappala bring Goverre, their portable glass “sippy cup” for wine, to the Shark Tank in episode 820. The two Southern California women share a “passion for all things wine” and they love the out doors. They created Goverre so they could easily take a glass of wine on the go.

Goverre is made with thick glass surrounded by a silicon sleeve. It holds 17 ounces of wine (or any other beverage). It also comes with a spill-proof sipping lid – so it really is an adult sippy cup! The glass is a better solution since beverages taste better in glass than plastic or stainless steel.

They got their business off the ground with a successful  Kickstarter campaign back in 2014 that raised $63,457. They used the funds for tooling, engineering, and their first production run. Since then, they’ve been selling the product on Amazon and from their website.

They likely need a Shark’s help ramping up production and getting the product into retail outlets. Will a Shark toast to this business and invest?

Goverre Shark Tank Recap

Regan and Shannon enter the Tank seeking $200k for 13 percent of their business. The pair immediately impressed the Sharks with their energy, prompting Robert to say, “it’s a great product, but I think what is most impressive is the two of you.” Mr. Wonderful, a noted wine connoisseur, liked the utility of the product.

Before long, it was clear all the Sharks were interested. Kevin liked the glass for wine since wine in plastic cups doesn’t taste the same. All the Sharks liked the sales numbers: $500,000 last year. This prompted Kevin to offer $200,000 for 33.3% of the business. After some banter, Robert proposed a three way deal with Mark and Lori.

Mark liked the idea “just to beat the hell out of Kevin!” Lori promised to “squash you like the little cockroach you are!” The three Sharks matched Kevin’s offer and the Goverre gals accepted.

Goverre Shark Tank Update

The Shark Tank Blog constantly provides updates and follow-ups about entrepreneurs who have appeared on the Shark Tank TV show. The deal with the Sharks did close, though exact terms were unavailable. They used the $200,000 for inventory, production and cash flow. They’ve since partnered to include Goverre in the VinGardeValise, a “wine suitcase” for wine lovers on the go.

The business gets an update segment in episode 923, a season nine episode held “in the can” and airing during season ten. In the update, they reveal they’ve moved to Mark Cuban’s fulfillment facility in Dallas. As of 2021, they have products in over 800 locations nationwide – many of them mom and pop gift shops. The company introduced charcuterie boards and flute shaped sippy cups to the line as well. As of July, 2022, the company is still in business with annual revenues of $1.5 million.
