Clay Canning has always been a natural entrepreneur, having started selling screen protectors on Amazon while in college. The idea to commence Screen Skinz struck him in 2018, when he realized that existing screen protectors do not make an individual’s phone feel personal.
Later in December 2022, RaShaun Brown joined the company as a co-founder.
The brand Screen Skinz sells customizable, licensed screen protectors for prominent brands. The brand’s technology is patented in the U.S. Their artwork or tattoos are visible on the screen when the phone is off, but disappear when it turns on.
Additionally, customers can choose from a variety of customized themes like angel numbers, zodiac signs, and even their favorite sports teams. They also offer easy installation with an included installation tray, and the protectors are scratch-resistant.

Clay, Wayne, and RaShaun entered the Tank seeking $300,000 in exchange for a 7.5% stake, further valuing the brand at $4 million. They presented the customized screen protectors to the Sharks, and most of the investors liked the product.
Lori Greiner asked the entrepreneurs how they sell and customize. Wayne took the plunge and shared with the Sharks that they can purchase it directly from their website or Amazon. Customers can also submit the design they want printed or choose from the existing design themes.
RaShaun said that they have sports licenses from the NFL, MLB, NHL, NCAA, and NBA. Also, he shared with Alexis Ohanian that 90% of their sales come from personalized IP, but they want to expand the footprint and open it for everyone.
Kevin O’Leary asked about the sales, which stood at $850,000 since 2022, and they have sold more than 28,000 units.
In 2022, the company lost approximately $70,000, and in 2023, it lost $484,000 because it did not have the license at that time. Furthermore, earlier, they partnered with a third-party logistics company, and that is how they lost the money.
So, in August 2024, they built their own internal manufacturing unit in the U.S. Consequently, from August to December 2024, they generated $200,000 in revenue, and in 2025, they project to earn $1 million in revenue and break even.
The founders shared that the retail price of a standard screen protector is $30, a licensed product costs $40, and a customized product costs $50. Besides that, the most amazing moment was when they told the landing cost of $3, with higher margins. Of course, Kevin, Daymond John, and the guest Shark Alexis were all impressed by the margins.

What Makes Screen Skinz Unique?

After listening to their pitch, Kevin O’Leary decided to make an offer because the market was huge. He offered $300,000 in exchange for a 20% stake. Though it was a great offer from Mr. Wonderful, the founders decided to hear from other Sharks as well.
Lori Greiner and Daymond John backed out of the deal negotiations because they thought it was too early. Also, Kendra Scott decided to bow out for the same reason, as she did not think they needed a Shark right now.
Interestingly, the guest Shark, Alexis Ohanian, decided to offer $300K in exchange for 20%, the same as Mr. Wonderful’s offer. That’s when the negotiation became more intriguing, as Kevin changed his offer to $300K in exchange for a 10% stake, plus $1 royalty on each unit sold until he recoups $900,000.
The founders were willing to take this offer, but they wanted Alexis and Kevin to team up. So, both of them came together and offered $300,000 in exchange for a 15% stake, plus $1 royalty per unit sold until they recoup $900K. Thus, the deal was closed on the same terms.
