Rob Wright started inventing BoxBlayde after he mistakenly missed the tapeline while using a utility knife. It damaged the contents inside the box. So, Rob started inventing and designing prototypes of a cutter that can cut shipping boxes without affecting what’s inside.
After months of experimentation, he created BoxBlayde. The blade has a built-in guard that prevents it from going deeper and cutting through the cardboard. Moreover, the product is made of ABS plastic and features a built-in utility knife.
Because the sharp element is hidden, accidental skin contact is prevented. In today’s world, when e-commerce is exploding, and every household receives thousands of packages, BoxBlayde is very useful.

BoxBlayde Shark Tank Pitch
Rob Wright entered the Tank seeking $200,000 in exchange for a 5% stake in the brand, further valuing the company at $4 million. He presented the product to the Sharks and even asked them to try using it. Of course, most of the Sharks were perked up, but the blade was difficult to use for a first-time customer.
So, Daniel Lubetzky raised this concern, and Rob replied that they are posting videos showing how to use it.
Rob took this opportunity to share that he launched the Kickstarter campaign in 2023, but the official launch was in April 2024. After he started selling D2C from his website, he earned $500,000 in revenue by the end of 2024. Moreover, he has projected to touch $920,000 in 2025.
Barbara Corcoran wanted to know the profit after sales, which stood at $40,000 in 2024 and was projected to reach $60,000 in 2025. Additionally, the product’s landing cost was $30, and it retails for $99.
Kevin O’Leary raised the concern about cost, noting that without reducing landing costs, it would be tough to find space in traditional hardware stores. So, Rob responded that if he replaced the motor, the landing cost could drop from $30 to $22.

Did BoxBlayde Get A Deal On Shark Tank?
There were some existing issues with the product, especially its high manufacturing cost and difficulty of use. Barbara Corcoran was the first Shark to bow out of the deal because it was too heavy.
Also, Lori Greiner declined to invest because the product was not a good fit for her. On the contrary, Kevin O’Leary was willing to make an offer as he liked the product. He asked Chip and Joanna Gaines to team up, as Chip also liked the product from a contractor’s perspective.
So, together they offered $200,000 in exchange for a 20% stake in the company. At the same time, Daniel Lubetzky offered $200K in exchange for a 15% stake, but later he withdrew his offer because of the negotiations.
The founder clearly refused to give up 20% because it was a lot. Hence, he decided not to accept the offer.
