Founder Koko Hayashi believed that investing in her business was a great idea. Firstly, because it had strong sales, and secondly, because not many companies were focusing on the issue she was: the “nonenal smell.”

Mirai Clinical Pitch

It is Koko Hayashi’s second time coming to the tank. Last time, she came to pitch a yoga company, but she didn’t have any luck securing an investment. However, the entrepreneur once again returned, this time with a new venture: Mirai Clinical.

She explained to the sharks that nonenal body odor is the reason behind that distinct “old person smell.” She revealed the secret that most Japanese people use to fight this odor: one of the tastiest fruits, persimmon. This fruit helps eliminate stubborn body odor.

She uses this natural ingredient to make body care products. Mirai Clinical offers Body Wash, Deodorizing Soap, Body Wipes, Natural Deodorant, and more.

Mirai Clinical reported lifetime sales of $8.7 million. Although they projected $4 million in revenue for the current year, unforeseen circumstances, including a robbery, impacted their performance. Nevertheless, they achieved $2.2 million in sales last year, yielding a net profit of $250,000.

The flagship Persimmon Soap Bar accounts for 53% of total sales. Its production cost is $1.85. While the retail price of $17.97. Mirai Clinical’s return on ad spend is currently 2.5%

  • Robert and Lori both opted out of investing, as the product does not meet their criteria.
  • According to Barbara, this product is trying to solve a problem that doesn’t even exist. She added that she married an old man who smells perfect.
  • Shark Kevin O’Leary felt the valuation was not reasonable. Mark also refrained from offering any deals.

The entrepreneur went back without any investments from the sharks. She said she was shocked, as she believed she had great numbers. However, she was also proud of her pitch.
