I got some SLAWESOME news last night! A woman I’ve known for a couple of years is going on Shark Tank on November 15. Julie Busha is going to pitch her Slawsa – a combination of cole slaw, mustard and salsa – on the show.
Slawsa on Hot Dog Stories
I first met Julie as “The Hotdogman.” I have a website that chronicles my visits to hot dog joints all over the country called Hot Dog Stories. It’s chock full of videos of my visits to over 100 different hot dog joints. Julie noticed my site a few years ago and sent along a bunch of samples for me to bring on my journeys. Slawsa was a big hit on Hot Dog Stories with hot dog vendors and customers alike.
Since our first contact, I’ve spoken to Julie several times and communicated electronically hundreds of times. Shortly after our first introduction, Julie made the connection that I was not only the Hot Dog Stories blogger, but the Shark Tank Blog blogger too. She got a big kick out of that.
Slawsa on Shark Tank
Julie and I are both members of an online group of entrepreneurs that includes many past Shark Tank business people. The other night, she announced that she would air on the November 15 show. I think I was as excited as she was. She’s the first Shark Tank entrepreneur I “knew” before they went on the show.
The fact that we first connected via Hot Dog Stories made it that much sweeter! I also get a lot of play out of asking Shark Tank entrepreneurs THE QUESTION: “Do you put ketchup on your hot dogs?” I even asked Daymond John the same thing. Julie is always messaging that NOBODY ever answered the question CORRECTLY. I think we all know what Julie prefers on her hot dogs!
She’s on a nationwide quest to “ban boring condiments” and she wants the Sharks to help. Once everyone becomes more acquainted with her story, you’ll discover she’s quite a tenacious entrepreneur. I’m proud to be a small part of her success story and I wish her the best in the Shark Tank.
